THE KÜMMEL STORY
Kümmel has been around since the 16th century, first distilled in the Netherlands before finding its way across the Baltic States and into the hands of people who clearly had good taste.
By the mid 19th century it had become a staple of British members clubs, where it was quietly credited with settling stomachs, calming nerves and generally making everything a bit better.
The Golf Connection
A First Tee Tradition
Kümmel was in golfers glasses before the first Open was played at Prestwick in 1860. The pioneering clubs of the Victorian golf boom adopted it as their post-round ritual, poured over ice
Golfers gave it a nickname "putting mixture." One glass to settle the nerves and steady the hands over those three foot putts.
For a while, it was everywhere. Then, slowly, it disappeared to the back of the shelf.
We think that's long enough.
